Bodney Lodge is a beautifully converted nineteenth-century barn and stable block, which sleeps up to 10/12 people in luxurious accommodation.
The accommodation at Bodney Lodge is split between two areas: the main barn, and an adjacent stable block, which are together in their own private garden, with views out over the completely unspoiled farmland and countryside. It is a wonderful space for large gatherings, and has an open-plan kitchen, dining room and sitting room/ library. The light in the spring and summer, and the roaring fire and chalet-feel in winter make it a special place year-round. Our guests often say that the pictures of the main open-plan area in the barn don't do it justice, so you will have to come and see it for yourself! The main barn also has two large bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms, a mezzanine level with two twins beds, a cloakroom and a utility/boot room.
The stables, which are adjacent to the main barn have three bedrooms, also each with their own bathrooms. The enormous master suite has a four-poster king-sized bed, a small sofa bed, and a large copper free-standing bath. It connects to small double bedroom, which has a shower room, and there is one further double bedroom and shower room.
Each of the bedrooms has an ensuite bathroom, and are filled with luxurious and sustainably sourced natural products as well as fluffy bathrobes. The master suite has a large, copper free-standing bath, the two bedrooms in the main barn have bath/showers, and the remaining two bedrooms in the stable block have shower rooms. There is underfloor heating throughout.
The tree-lined drive at Bodney Lodge leads up to the front garden which has a large lawn and terrace that catches the morning sun and is flanked by a pair of olive trees, to make the most of our increasingly Mediterranean climate! The main garden, which is at the back of the property, is fully enclosed and has glorious views over the surrounding farmland, an outdoor seating area with a barbeque and a wood-fired hot-tub which is perfectly placed for star-gazing throughout the year.
The grounds at Bodney make it rather hard to leave, thanks to its complete immersion in nature. Depending on the season, woodland walks are filled with snowdrops or bluebells, guests are able to fish on the River Wissey, one of the region's treasured chalk streams, or enjoy a refreshing dip in the lake which is accessible by a pontoon. There is also a games room available for guests to use, with a full-sized snooker table at the legendary "Blue-nosed Bastard of Bodney"!
The blue bedroom is situated within the main barn, and can be adjusted to accommodate one superking bed or two twin beds. It has an ensuite bathroom with beautiful blue and white tiles around the bath/shower.
This bedroom is also situated within the main barn, and can be configured with either a superking bed or with two twin beds. It has an ensuite bathroom with a bath/ shower.
This bedroom has a double bed, and is in the stable block with a connecting door to the Master Suite through the wardrobe. It has a rainfall shower in its ensuite shower room.
The master suite is a large bedroom situated within the stable block, which is adjacent to the main barn. It has a king-sized four poster bed, and a small sofa bed. But the real star of the show is the large, free-standing copper bath in the ensuite bathroom.
This lovely little bedroom is also in the stable block, and has a rainfall shower in its ensuite shower room.
There are two twin beds on the mezzanine level in the main barn. Useful for overspill guests who don't mind a little less privacy!
